By engaging in Parafount's services, making a payment, or communicating with us for the purpose of obtaining any service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Parafount operates exclusively as an online business. We do not conduct, offer, or accommodate in-person meetings of any kind under any circumstances. All consultations and client communications are conducted virtually via the following platforms:

Any request for an in-person meeting will not be accommodated and if persistent, can lead to a withdrawal in communication. Clients who are not comfortable with virtual-only communication are advised not to proceed with our services.

4. Consultations

Consultations are professional paid sessions and are not complimentary unless given at our discretion. Elaborate service questions, guidance, advice, and project discussions constitute a consultation and are subject to the applicable fee.

Consultation details:

  • Duration: 1 hour (maximum)

  • Platform: Microsoft Teams or Zoom

  • Fee: (full payment required before the session begins)

  • Scope: Publishing, book cover design, logo design vision, process guidance, and customized action planning

Parafount reserves the right to decline any service and consultation request at its discretion.

5. Payments & Deposits

All prices are listed in Jamaican Dollars (JMD) unless otherwise stated. Parafount also accepts debit and credit card payments globally in various currencies.

5.1 Payment Methods

  • Local clients (Jamaica): Direct bank transfer to our bank account.

  • International clients: Online payments via debit or credit card through our online payment processor where a link is sent for payment.

5.2 Deposit Requirements

  • Publishing Packages: 50-60% deposit required upfront before the project begins; remaining balance due before final delivery of completed project files.

  • Amazon Publishing and Account setup + Payment Gateway setup: Full payment required before service begins.

Once payment is made, clients must send proof of payment for bank transfers (a screenshot or receipt of payment) via email or WhatsApp immediately for confirmation. Work will not commence until payment is confirmed as valid.

6. Refund Policy

Once a service has been delivered and completed in accordance with the outlined service brief, payments are non-refundable. Parafount does not issue refunds for:

  • Completed consultations

  • Delivered and completed editing services

  • Completed graphic and book cover designs

  • Completed Amazon publishing and related account setups

  • Any service that has been rendered as described in the applicable service outline

Clients are encouraged to review all service descriptions thoroughly before making payment. By proceeding with payment, the client confirms their understanding and agreement of the service scope.

7. Revisions & Corrections

Any changes, corrections, or additions requested after a service has been delivered will attract additional fees. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Corrections to a published manuscript (editing, formatting, additions, adjustments, and republishing for Amazon paperback and Kindle (if applicable), which is a must, as the manuscript must go through the upload process again)

  • Changes to accepted and completed graphic designs (where changes are possible), including any associated republishing costs (for book cover designs)

  • Book cover design services include up to 3 revisions as part of the original service. Requests beyond this are subject to additional charges, especially if a change is being requested due to an initial error on the Author’s part.

8. Manuscript & File Handling

Parafount does not retain or store client manuscripts or payment information in our internal records. Manuscripts, payment information, documents, and related files exchanged during a project are communicated exclusively via email and WhatsApp. It is the client's responsibility to retain copies of all files sent to or received from Parafount. If and when personal information is sent to Parafount, it is not stored (sensitive information such as ID photos, etc.)

Files, manuscripts, and documents will not be retrievable from Parafount beyond what may already exist in prior email correspondence between the client and Parafount.

We strongly recommend that all clients maintain personal backups of their work. ParaFount does not accept manuscript or document submissions via WhatsApp or social media. All files must be submitted via email to: info.parafount@gmail.com

9. Use of Client Materials for Marketing Purposes

By engaging in Parafount's services, clients acknowledge and agree to the following:

9.1 Author Portraits & Photos

Parafount may store and use portraits or photographs provided by clients (e.g., author photos used on book covers) for marketing purposes, including but not limited to posting on our website and social media platforms to showcase clients we have worked with.

9.2 Completed Design Work

Parafount may retain and display copies of completed work including but not limited to:

  • Book cover designs

  • Logos

  • Flyers

  • Paperback/Kindle copy of an Author's book (not for resale)

  • Other design deliverables

Such work may be displayed on our website, portfolio, and social media channels for the purpose of showcasing our services and capabilities. If a client does not wish for their materials to be used for marketing purposes, they must notify Parafount in writing prior to the commencement of their project.

10. Content Standards & Right to Decline

Parafount reserves the right to decline any project or service request at its sole discretion. We do not accept, design, edit, or publish content that includes, implies, or promotes:

  • Profanity or offensive language

  • Nudity or sexually explicit material

  • Content promoting drunkenness, substance abuse, or harmful behaviors

  • Anything deemed disrespectful, inappropriate, or contrary to the core Christian values of the Parafount brand

This policy also applies to both graphic design requests and manuscript submissions.

11. Intellectual Property & Publishing Imprint

The client retains full ownership of their original manuscript and written content. Upon full payment and delivery of completed services, the client owns the final delivery produced for them by Parafount.

Publisher Imprint: Where Parafount provides full publishing services — including editing, formatting, and Amazon KDP publication — Parafount's name, logo, website address, and contact information will be included within the published manuscript, including on the author's copyright page, as acknowledgment of the publishing service rendered. This imprint serves as an accurate representation of the publishing relationship between the author and Parafount.

The client agrees not to remove, alter, obscure, or replace Parafount's imprint from any published work without prior written consent from Parafount. Unauthorized removal or modification of the imprint constitutes a breach of these Terms & Conditions and misrepresents the publishing origin of the work. Parafount reserves the right to pursue appropriate legal action in such cases.

Exceptions: Where a manuscript has been previously published by another publisher and the client engages Parafount solely for Amazon KDP upload and publishing setup (KDP Launch Essentials), Parafount's imprint may not be applied, as Parafount is not the publisher of record for such works.

Parafount retains the right to display completed work in its portfolio and marketing materials as outlined in Section 9.

12. Limitation of Liability

Parafount is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or any consequential damage arising from the use of our services, including but not limited to delays caused by the client, third-party platforms (such as Amazon KDP), or circumstances beyond our control. Parafount is not responsible for the loss of client files or manuscripts that were not properly backed up by the client prior to submission.

13. Modifications to These Terms

Parafount reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. The most current version will be available on our website at https://parafount.com. Continued engagement with our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Project Abandonment & Client Inactivity

If a client becomes unresponsive during an active project, including failure to submit required materials, provide feedback, or respond to communications, Parafount will make reasonable attempts to reach the client over a period of 14 calendar days. If no response is received within this period, the project will be considered abandoned. In such cases, any deposit paid is non-refundable, and Parafount is released from the obligation to further complete and deliver the service. Should the client wish to resume the project after abandonment, a new agreement and payment arrangement will be required.

15. Revision Policy

Unless otherwise stated in a specific service outline, all services include a maximum of 3 revision rounds as part of the original service fee. A revision is defined as minor adjustments to already delivered work and does not include new additions, restructuring, or changes resulting from the client's own error or change of preference. Any revisions requested beyond the included rounds will attract additional fees, which will be communicated prior to commencing the additional work.

16. Client Responsibility & Accuracy of Submitted Materials

The client is solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of all content, materials, and information submitted to Parafount, including but not limited to manuscripts, author details, quotes, statistics, third-party content, and any permissions required for such content. Parafount does not verify the accuracy of submitted content and is not liable for errors, omissions, or legal issues arising from content provided by the client. By submitting materials, the client confirms that they have the right to use all content included therein.

17. Turnaround Times & Client-Caused Delays

Estimated turnaround times provided by Parafount are contingent upon the client submitting all required materials in full and on time, and providing timely feedback throughout the project. If a client causes delays, including late submissions, slow responses, or incomplete materials, the estimated turnaround time will be adjusted accordingly. Parafount is not liable for project delays directly caused by the client, third-party platforms such as Amazon KDP, or circumstances beyond Parafount's reasonable control.

18. Right to Terminate

Parafount reserves the right to terminate any ongoing service engagement at its discretion, including but not limited to situations where a client is abusive, disrespectful, unresponsive, or in violation of these Terms & Conditions. In the event of termination initiated by Parafount, a partial refund may be issued for work not yet commenced, at Parafount's discretion. No refund will be issued for work already completed or delivered at the point of termination.

19. Third-Party Contractors

Certain services offered by Parafount may involve the engagement of third-party contractors (such as illustration services). In such cases, Parafount acts as a coordinator and point of contact on the client's behalf. While Parafount will make every reasonable effort to manage third-party timelines and quality, Parafount is not directly liable for delays, errors, or issues caused by third-party contractors. Clients will be kept informed of any third-party developments that may affect their project.

20. Communication Boundaries

Parafount responds to all client inquiries and communications within 2–3 business days max. Communications received on weekends or public holidays will be addressed on the next available business day. Clients are encouraged to use email for formal project correspondence and WhatsApp for general inquiries. Parafount reserves the right to discontinue communication with any client who is persistently disrespectful, abusive, unresponsive, or deemed as a potential scam.

21. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to first attempt resolution in good faith through direct communication. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Jamaica, and any unresolved disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Jamaican courts.

22. AI-Generated Manuscripts

Parafount does not accept manuscripts that are entirely or predominantly generated by artificial intelligence (AI) tools. All manuscripts submitted for editing, proofreading, formatting, or publishing must be the original, authentic work of the author. Parafount reserves the right to decline any manuscript that is identified or reasonably suspected to be AI-generated in its entirety. The use of AI as a minor assistive tool (e.g. grammar suggestions) does not fall under this restriction, provided the core content and creative work is genuinely that of the author. By submitting a manuscript, the client confirms that the work is their own original creation.

23. Research Services

Parafount does not offer, provide, or assist with research services of any kind. This includes but is not limited to sourcing additional material for a manuscript, fact-checking or verifying information, locating references or citations, and conducting topic-based research on behalf of a client. Authors are solely responsible for the research, accuracy, and substantiation of all content within their manuscripts prior to submission. Any request for research assistance will not be accommodated and will not form part of any service agreement with Parafount.

24. Collection & Handling of Personal & Sensitive Information

In the course of providing certain services, including but not limited to Amazon KDP account setup and a payment gateway account setup, Parafount may require the client to share personal and sensitive information. This may include but is not limited to full legal name, date of birth, email address, phone number, physical address, Tax Registration Number (TRN)/Tax I.D., and basic banking or payment information, as required by the respective platform.

Parafount wishes to make the following explicitly clear regarding how such information is handled:

24.1 No Storage of Personal or Sensitive Information

Parafount does not store, retain, or record any personal or sensitive client information in any internal database, file system, or third-party storage platform. Any such information shared during a project exists solely within the communication channels used at the time (email or WhatsApp) and is not saved or duplicated beyond that correspondence.

24.2 No Storage of Manuscripts

Parafount does not retain client manuscripts or documents after a project is completed. Clients are solely responsible for maintaining their own copies of all submitted and delivered files. Should a client require a previously submitted manuscript, they are advised to refer to their own email correspondence with Parafount, as manuscripts will not be retrievable from Parafount's end once a project is concluded.

24.3 Clearing of WhatsApp Communications

Where sensitive personal information has been shared via WhatsApp during the course of a project, Parafount will clear the relevant chat upon the conclusion and completion of the project. Clients are advised to save or screenshot any information they may need from WhatsApp conversations before project completion, as Parafount cannot guarantee the retrievability of any information from cleared chats.

24.4 What Parafount Does Retain

Upon the completion of a project, Parafount retains only the following for portfolio and marketing purposes, as outlined in Section 9:

  • Completed graphic design assets (book cover designs, mockups, flyers, logos, etc.)

  • Author portraits or photos used in the course of design work

No personal identifying information, manuscripts, payment details, or sensitive data of any kind is retained beyond the active project period.

Clients who are not comfortable with any aspect of this process are advised to raise their concerns with Parafount in writing before proceeding with any service that requires the sharing of sensitive information.

25. Book Listing and Digital Sales Platform

25.1 Platform Role

Parafount operates as a listing and distribution platform for digital books by Caribbean and Jamaican authors. We act as a facilitator between authors and buyers. We do not act as the publisher of listed books. Authors retain full copyright and ownership of their works. Parafount does not claim any ownership rights over the content.

25.2 Author Listing Agreement

Authors must sign our Author Listing Agreement and complete the Author Onboarding Form before their book(s) can be listed. By submitting a book for listing, the author grants Parafount a non-exclusive, worldwide right to list, display, market, and facilitate the digital sale and download of the book on our platform.

25.3 Commission and Payouts

  • Authors receive 70% of the net sale price.

  • Parafount retains 30% as a platform fee.

  • Royalties are calculated monthly. Sales made in a given calendar month will be paid to the author’s nominated bank account by the end of the following month, subject to verification of payment and any applicable bank charges.

  • Minimum payout threshold: Payouts will only be issued when an author’s accumulated royalties reach or exceed JMD $5,000. Amounts below this threshold will roll over to the next payout period.

  • Authors are solely responsible for all taxes, reporting, and compliance related to their royalties.

25.4 Buyer Purchases and Digital Delivery

All digital book purchases are made via bank transfer as instructed. Upon confirmation of payment:

  • Buyers receive a secure, time-limited download link.

  • All digital purchases are final. No refunds or cancellations are provided after the download link has been sent, except in cases of technical file corruption (replacement only, at our discretion).

  • Buyers receive a personal, non-transferable license for their own use only. Sharing, copying, redistributing, or commercial use of the downloaded file is strictly prohibited and can relate to legal consequences.

25.5 Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Protection Books may include light digital protection such as:

  • Buyer-specific watermarks (e.g., containing the buyer’s name, order number, and purchase date).

  • Password protection.

  • Time-limited download links.

Buyers agree not to remove, circumvent, or disable any such protections. Any attempt to do so may result in violation of these Terms.

25.6 Author Responsibilities and Warranties By listing a book, the author warrants that:

  • They own all rights to the work and it does not infringe any third-party copyrights, trademarks, or other rights.

  • The content complies with our Content Standards and does not contain prohibited material.

  • The book file is free of viruses, malware, or harmful code.

  • All provided information (description, pricing, metadata, banking details) is accurate.

Authors agree to indemnify and hold Parafount harmless against any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from their content or breach of these warranties.

25.7 Platform Rights and Limitations

  • Parafount reserves the right to review, edit (for formatting/metadata only), reject, or remove any book listing at our sole discretion.

  • We provide sales reports and transparency via Google Sheets view or PDF upon request.

  • Parafount is not liable for:

    • The quality, accuracy, or legality of listed books.

    • Buyer disputes regarding content (authors should handle such issues directly).

    • Technical issues with third-party download services.

    • Any unauthorized use or piracy of books after delivery.
